Hanley Castle High School entered a team of seven into the Worcestershire World Book Day school book quiz. We were provided with the books, ‘I Am The Minotaur’, ‘Wink’, ‘Black Brother, Black Brother’, ‘Skywake Invasion’ and ‘Noor Inayat Khan’, a week before the quiz. Each team member had at least one book to read, and we had to try and remember as many facts about our book as possible. The books I read were ‘I Am The Minotaur’, a modern adaption of Greek mythology’s ‘Theseus and the Minotaur’ and ‘Wink’, which is about a boy struggling to live with a rare eye cancer.
Then, on World Book Day, we all went into the Library, to answer questions on a Zoom call with other schools. There was a round for each book, and a knowledge round on the authors, all of which we enjoyed. At the end of the quiz, we came 2nd out of 9, with 24.5 points – just half a point less that the winners!
We had lots of fun, and got a high score, so it was a successful hour all round!
