Public Pop Art

Huge thanks to our trainee teacher in the Art Department, Miss Boulton-Jaggi who has delivered a fabulous series of lesson on public pop art with Year 7 groups.

We'd like to share some of the brilliant outcomes as well as some quotes from the children about their art:

“In this project we papier-machéd a balloon to make it look like a lollipop melting. We painted the balloon and stuck sprinkles around it. After that we went to take a picture of it in public and made it look realistic.”

“These are sculptures of lollipops thrown onto the ground to show how much we waste”

“I enjoyed everything about this project but mostly taking the photos”

“I think the project has been exciting and fun. We have created a public art, pop art sculpture. We have practised sculpting, papier-maché and painting techniques.”

“I really enjoyed the project because we got to work as a team and have fun. Me and my partner used lots of different techniques in order to create and paint our balloon.”

“I really enjoyed the project because I like the making part of art instead of drawing. It was also good because it is a whole new genre of art and I think it is really good to learn about.”

“I liked photographing the Blow Pops to see the different ways I could make it look”

“It was very fun to take photos and the sculpture looked really realistic.”

“Fabulous and colourful!”

“I like everyone’s sculptures because of the colour and design, it brings out how different art can be.”

“The project was fun! I really enjoyed making something creative and laughing when things went a bit wrong with my friend!”
