NSEA teams and individuals excel at Eventers Challenge competition

What a great weekend, despite a long drive, the rain and biting wind.

Against stiff competition, competing at the NSEA Eventers Challenge at Lucton School, the Hanley Castle HS Equestrian Team pulled off some brilliant results.

First up were Harry Jones, Edward Jones and Felix Westgate-Wilton (on 2 ponies) in the 70-75cm event, competing in a big class of 49 competitors, to get a fantastic 4th Team place, with Felix coming 2nd overall in the class and qualifying for the Hickstead Championships in May 2020.

Then Georgina Dobbin and Felix Westgate-Wilton (again on 2 ponies) competing in the 80-85cm event - another big class of 42, held their own and got another great 4th Team place.

Finally Ruby Williams representing the school as an individual in 2 classes excelled, finishing on a 0 jumping and time faults in the 90-95cm class to WIN the class and also qualify for the Hickstead Championships in May 2020. Ruby finished a successful day with another clear in the 100-105cm to be placed 4th overall, in a very competitive class.

The team showed great support for each other and looked impressive in their new Hanley numnahs (thanks to Sophie Jones for organising in time).

We wish the NSEA equestrian team lots of good luck for this weekend, 18th – 20th October, when they will be representing Hanley in both the dressage and show jumping at the NSEA Championships at Addington.

If there are any other riders at Hanley that want to join in and represent the school in the NSEA competitions – let us know – all new riders are very welcome.
