It is with great pleasure that I am able to announce that, once again, Hanley students have proven how creative and imaginative they can be. During the uncertainty of April’s national lockdown, students were invited to participate in a creative writing competition in which they had to promote Malvern and its surrounding areas through the “Malvern Civic Society.” Students were tasked with describing and explaining the attraction of a local place of interest that meant something to them personally.
Not only was the amount of entries overwhelming, but the quality of their written pieces was absolutely outstanding. Therefore, I am delighted to announce that many of our students have been recognised for their efforts and wanted to share their well-deserved successes.
- “Secondary School Winner” awarded to Alex Chadwick
- “Secondary School Highly Commended” awarded to Jamie March, Alice Bell and Oliver Marchant
- “Judges’ Choice” awarded to Keira Layton, Josh Brighton and Dylan Tame.

Many congratulations to our winners but also a huge thank you from the English Department for all those that entered and certainly made us all appreciate our surroundings and locality more.
